Re: Backache (revision)

Hi Mac. Just a thought. You went for 8 beats (?) whereas I went for 10, per line. See what you think. Just a thought for you to take or toss :D A jazz of bluebottles bebop their buzz around a braid of overflowing bins. Pressing a thumb along my vertebrae unknotting inventive anagrams , neck and head...

Re: Mr. Drew Wears Armani

dedalus (aka Brendan) is sadly no longer with us - in this forum or in this world. I know he hasn't been around for a while but I didn't realize he had passed away. :( I'm really saddened by this news. He was such a character. He sent me a music CD of himself and his band all the way from Japan. I ...

I had great fun.
Did another this morning.
Very enjoyable way to pass a little time.
I obviously need to practice, but hey, it's fun learning. :)

Re: Dreamscape

Hey Lake. :) If it is a result of inspiration, it is already a plus! Isn't it just. :) The small rocks gathering together in the front made me think they are close to the shore or in the shallow water? Yay. That was my intention. Appreciate your creation. And I appreciate you calling by to sa...

trees.jpg Hey Ross. You got me curious about digital painting. Don't have a clue as to how to do it but I had a little go on Paint for the first time today. OK. It's rather minimal  but it has given me a taste of what you can do on there. I will have a look around and try out the tools offere...

Re: Dreamscape

Hi Lotus :) what i enjoy about this canvas is a fine blend of surrealism & abstract figural landscape in a way that there is no direct impact of vanishing point and the eye is left the freedom to wander allowing even the sky to perhaps be perceived as sea I'm thrilled you were able to wander around ...

Re: Dreamscape

It seems a tradional seascape, the black stones in the lower right hand corner throw the perspective out a bit. Cheers Ross. The stones look darker in the photo than they actually are. They are in shadow . I did paint them darker so as to look wet, however, I totally see what you mean re perspectiv...

Re: Graphics and Guitar, YouTube Slide Show

It works best if you enlarge it and you can always click pause to view each painting. Ooops. Never thought of that. Just saw them whizzing by and got all discombobulated as to where to focus my attention. I shall do just that. :) Have you not thought to do the same and take a screen shot. If you pr...

Dreamscape

dreamscape (colour).jpg 90x90cm Hmmm. Not sure this one is working. I wanted a dreamscape (is there such a word  ) as opposed to a seascape. I wanted cloudy water with movement rather than waves, but I feel it is too white. I am also aware that the stones (I've PVA'd half my side garden onto t...

Re: Graphics and Guitar, YouTube Slide Show

Hey Ross. Some great pieces here :) Problem is, they roll past before I can get a good look at them. So feedback is proving difficult. The music is really nice too. However, (and this is just my own preference) I feel each painting should have it's own music. (If you intend to set your art to music)...

Re: You never bring me flowers

Hey Churinga. Welcome. :) There's not many visitors to this part of the woods. OK. These canvases are 20x20cm and yes, they are seriously heavy with paint. That was my intention. All three were painted along side each other and so they should (and do) match re consistency. I think abstraction goes s...

Re: At The Launderette (revision)

There's a sad, reflective quality, as she recalls all those dreams and intentions, all those lost days, days that are gone forever. And so she sits, quietly sipping her sloe gin, sober and acquiescent. Yep, that's what I got from this. Thanks JJ, for saying just what I wanted to say but couldn't fi...

Re: Eye eye

The funny thing about painting with only one lamp working is the loss of depth (stereo disparity). I would often miss my mark and put a huge splodge of paint anywhere but where I intended. To get round this I would bring my face close to the canvas then guide the tip of the brush to the general int...

Hi Tristan. I like the idea, Me too :) However, I’m not feeling this one. It could be about a shih tzu dressed in its latest winter jumper. I think it needs a little more of a back story. A hint to what you had and what you have lost. Sorry to be so negative. :| In the distance, I saw love  Your lov...
