Upgrade

I will be upgrading the forum shortly and it will be off line for a while. It's a big upgrade and there may be some issues afterwards. Fingers crossed it goes ok.

Apologies

Sorry for the problems over the last few days. The webhosts upgraded something which had a knock on effect with PG. They then denied it was a problem at their end and I have been having conversations off and on all weekend with the hosts and with phpbb. Finally the hosts have sorted it.

Bandwidth Issues

Hi all Apologies for the website crashing due to bandwidth issues. We are having Bot trouble. We’ve finally decided to increase our available bandwidth so hopefully things should be ok now. Thanks to people who have informed us when it has gone down as we don’t get notifications that there is a prob...

Re: Spam question

It is a bit time consuming but not too bad. Some names are obviously spam and I don’t bother to investigate further. Generally speaking any real person will email if I’ve missed them so I don’t worry too much. It’s far easier than being swamped as we have in the past by bots and spam.

Re: Spam question

Hi there... do you mean spam members? All our new ‘members’ have to have their registration approved by me, Cam or Ros. This means that only ‘real’ people are acitvated ...hopefully. It also means that sometimes people have to wait a while before activation so hopefully if they are genuine they will...

I'm feeling very guilty but life got in the way I'm afraid. Sounds like it was a great success. Did Mrs David enjoy it as well? Perhaps we'll make it to the next one.....

Possible 'outages' Sat 17th

I've just received this message from our web hosts about the possible interuption in service on Sat 17th. 'Unfortunately as you may already be aware, we recently encountered some technical issues with one of our servers (“blade”) which impacted some of our shared web hosting services. In order to mi...

Re: Cameron and Nicola

I have just spotted this.. I know we take a back seat these days (Cam further back than me!) but we are still really proud of PG and the community it has created. I think it's amazing that people have met in real life and the PG gathering in Feb sounds brilliant - even we have considered coming. It'...

ummmm - it does seem to have disappeared. I will have a look around. Is tapatalk any good?

I must update the forum soon. I've been putting it off ever since I manage to delete the whole thing recently (panic!).

Once I've done that successfully I'll look into the app..

Server Outage

Hi all

The forum was offline for a while yesterday - apologies for that. For once it wasn't my fault - the webhosts had a system failure and decided to move forward their planned migration to a new server.

All should be well now.

Happy New Year to everyone...

Sorry Seth but those posts that are missing are not recoverable. I have no idea what went wrong with today's upgrade but we have had to resort to a backup from earlier this morning. There will be posts missing from today which won't be recoverable. For one nasty moment I thought the whole forum may ...

Re: Buy your stuff through our Amazon link - please!

Thanks Jackie. Our income for the same period last year was £30 so obviously people are using it less. I must get round to sorting out the adverts and links so they are a bit more prominent.

In fact, having just checked, the banner ads have disappeared - no wonder no-one is using them!

Re: Buy your stuff through our Amazon link - please!

Hi Jackie It does work! We can track items which have been purchased (either through Amazon or 3rd party seller). There is nothing to identify the buyer and I don't think the buyer gets any confirmation that PG has benefited. (We can't buy through this link as we are the site owners and therefore ex...
